Nicole Kouri is a New York based photographer and recent graduate of the International Center of Photography (ICP).  Prior to attending ICP, Nicole was a research coordinator in the Psychiatry Department at New York University Medical Center, conducting behavioral and neuroimaging studies with veterans experiencing Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.  In contrast to her work in both research and clinical settings in which individuals are diagnosed and their psychology classified, she now creatively portrays the ambiguity of the human psyche.  Believing that the human mind wavers precariously between the real and the imagined, her work embraces the uncertainty of reality and certainty of fantasy by playing with traditional documentary practices and mixed media.
